After the heady summer months, the autumn is the perfect time to catch up with friends and be kind to your body as it adapts to the changing light. We know that it takes mind and body time to adjust.
The darker evenings can make us feel low (SAD at worst or the fluffily monikered ‘winter blues’ at best), headaches and migraines are more common at this time of year and as the Vitamin D dips so too can our energy levels.
So it is gentle, restorative treatments that are the order of the day, and at Bryn Meadows Golf Hotel and Spa in Wales, they have taken care of all the details to deliver just that.
The spa at Bryn Meadows is well known for seasonal adaptations to its rasul; a self administered, traditional Arabian cleansing ritual which can be enjoyed together as you let therapeutic muds work their magic while you sit in a specially adapted steam room.
This season, they have developed an entire spa package around the concept, with an autumn break that includes a rasul mud room ceremony followed by afternoon tea. Tea includes a selection of traditional finger sandwiches, fruits of the forest crumble tart, chocolate fudge cake, fallen macaroons, autumn apple jelly topped with cream and a Bryn Meadows chocolate gingerbread cupcake as well as warm scones served with clotted cream and jam.
Naturally, it’s topped off with unlimited freshly brewed tea or coffee, or a warm spiced pumpkin hot chocolate. It is the perfect combination of wellness and indulgence.
Of course, they are not the only ones enjoying the seasonal splendour. Recognising the need for a mini break having been back at work for a couple of months, Radisson Blu Edwardian New Providence Wharf in London has prepared an Inner City Escape spa day complete with two 30-minute treatments.
Also, the elegant Down Hall Hotel & Spa in Essex has introduced their Winter Warmer, which includes a 60-minute massage, plus a choice of one other 25-minute treatment as well as two hours’ use of facilities to give you the perfect amount of time to wind down at the end of the week in an environment that makes you feel like royalty.
