As we all know, rumours were flying last week as the ever-elegant Duchess of Sussex stepped out at the wedding of Princess Eugenie in an uncharacteristically loose fitting coat, prompting speculation over an imminent announcement that came only a couple of days later.
Since then, it’s been a universal joy to see her embark on her tour of Australia with Prince Harry at her side, back in her signature style with the first appearances of a perfectly formed bump.
Meanwhile, Pippa Matthews (Middleton) set a new standard for maternity wear when she appeared at Eugenie’s wedding in a jewel hued green dress with her proud bump on full display and ready to pop. Only a couple of days later she welcomed a baby boy into the world.
Taking a leaf out of sister Kate’s book, she was seen arriving at the private Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital on Monday, the same unit where Kate had her three children, only to tell the world that she had given birth to a baby boy weighing 8lb and 9oz that afternoon.
In the final weeks of her pregnancy it was reported that Pippa channelled a zen vibe and prepared for birth by doing meditation twice daily, to improve mental wellbeing. In her column for Waitrose Kitchen magazine, the mum-to-be also revealed she had been keeping active with swimming as her due date drew near – providing a meaningful form of exercise for the notoriously sporty Middleton sister.
Perhaps she took inspiration from sister Kate, who reportedly prepared for the births of her three children by taking private yoga classes to help prepare both mentally and physically. It is certainly well documented that the Duchess is a fan of Pilates for her regular health and fitness.
Meghan is also already known to be a long term fan of Pilates, and it seems she has plenty of family around her to offer support and advice over the coming months. As we all look forward to more royal news in the spring, we wish a huge congratulations to both Pippa and Meghan!
