The Park Spa at Warbrook House is a newcomer to the spa scene, offering a luxury day spa with beautifully designed spa packages. As part of their new Step into Summer experience, they tell us all about their Natural Spa Factory Salt and Oil Body Scrub…

What exactly is the treatment?

It’s a full body scrub with some really unique options to personalise it. We have a number of flavours to choose from: fig and vanilla, uzi pink beets and watermelon, green tea and coconut, Columbian rush coffee, wild rose or sloe gin with elderberries.

We also offer a Bumps a Daisy variation, which is a pregnancy scrub. When the guest arrives, they smell the options and pick the one they’re most drawn to. Then the therapist will take them to the treatment room where they lie face down on the treatment couch. The therapist will apply the customised scrub mixture to the guest’s body, and they are then left to take a shower.

Once showered, skin is left with a lovely moisturising film. In our Step Into Summer package, guests can combine the scrub with another treatment - either facial or massage.

Where does it come from?

All our scrubs come from the Natural Spa Factory. As you might guess, they’re known for their natural ingredients. That means no parabens and they’re completely safe to use. That’s why we chose to work with them.

What is the spa treatment supposed to do?

The body scrub will remove any dead skin cells and hydrate the skin. The green tea and coffee scrubs are really detoxing for skin as well. So they purify and brighten the skin.

Is there anything you do to enhance the effectiveness of the body scrub?

All the treatment beds are heated and rooms are dimly lit with soft music playing. Each scrub also has its own benefits. So, for example, we would advise that if someone has more sensitive or broken skin, they have the green tea option as it’s sugar-based instead of salt-based, and soothing on the skin. Our therapists are really flexible and able to adapt treatments. We want to make it all about you and what you want from it.

Is there anything you recommend clients to do pre- or post-treatment to get the most out of it?

Drink plenty of water and combine it with another treatment for deep relaxation - like the facial or massage in the Step Into Summer package. We do also have a retail space where you can buy the products to take home.

Is there anyone you particularly recommend the treatment for?

Anyone with really dry skin or someone who’s going on holiday and wants to prolong the effects of tanning. People don’t realise that after being in the sun, getting rid of dead skin is better for your tan. Especially if you have a scrub both before and during your holiday to make a tan last longer.

Is there anyone who shouldn’t have this treatment and why?

I wouldn’t recommend it for someone with really severe eczema or broken skin. However, we can avoid specific areas and use green tea body buff which is gentler than the other options. For pregnant women, we also have the Bumps a Daisy body scrub, so we try to make sure that anyone can have treatment of choice and that we can adapt it for their needs. There’s always something we can do but best to let us know in advance if you have particular allergies or health conditions.
