It is our great hope that soon we will once again be able to enjoy the beauty and joy of travel. Here are some of our favourite spas with that little extra bit of personal space…
A Scandinavian alpine-style retreat in Yorkshire, Chevin Country Park and Hotel offers a feast of outdoor activities from lakeside walks and cycling to waterside hot tubs and a glass of wine with a rural view. Surrounded by woodland, it’s a wonderful place to spend time with friends, and in addition to hotel, there are three lodges in the grounds providing self-contained accommodation, some with their own private patio.With private fishing lakes, tennis, lovely walks and roaring log fires, even staying within the hotel grounds is a relaxing treat.
This magical luxury spa hotel has a reputation for excellence, and as a place for romantic retreats. The perfect place to treat your partner the next time you’re able to travel, the hotel itself if a dream, while the spa is a Mecca for indulgent wellbeing. Go outside though and the magic continues. Here you find splendid grounds and 130 acres of Hampshire countryside on the edge of the New Forest National Park. Perfect for couples and small groups of friends, Alexander House Hotel is all about indulgence. From the historic hotel to the neoclassical spa, the whole thing is about feeling spoiled rotten. Set in 120 acres of grounds, the gardens are very much part of the experience and perfect for strolling in. In addition to lavish hotel rooms, The Cedar Lodge Suites within the grounds provide a superb amount of space, from the Garden Suites with their own terraces, to the Duplex Master Suite set over two floors. For those looking to really make themselves at home, there is also the option to stay in The Gatehouse, a fully serviced luxury apartment catering for up to four people.
A country house hotel in a 320 acre estate, a spa break at Kenwick Park is as much about the surrounding location as it is about the hotel and spa itself. Surrounded by manicured lawns and an on-site golf course, the hotel rooms and suites sit alongside 15 luxury self-catering Scandinavian lodges that are ideal for families and groups. With a choice of two or three bedrooms, the lodges are hidden in the woodland, and in the springtime, are surrounded by a haze of wild flowers. That’s all before you get to the state of the art ClubSpa@Kenwick, with everything from tennis courts to a thermal suite and 10 treatment rooms.
Close to the famed childhood home of Anne Boleyn, Hever Hotel is achingly romantic and located in a setting that almost feels enchanted. Everything here has a sense of history about it, from the architecture to the choice of lavish interiors. Meanwhile, allowing you to escape into your own little world, they have a self-contained Woodland Cottage that you can stay in, complete with three double bedrooms, living space and its own kitchen. Chances are, you will never want to leave.
