Singles Day – a chance to dedicate some time to self-care on a solo spa day

The 11th November is designated Singles Day in China - a Chinese shopping season that originated as an unofficial holiday for bachelors. It started at Nanjing University in 1993 and spread from there, chosen as a date for the four “1″s in the date (11/11), which to us makes it the perfect date to have a little time to yourself and dedicate it to self care.

Singles Day for self-care

We think about a singles day and lots of us think about dates, set ups and looking to spend time with someone else, but if this year has taught us anything it’s that time dedicated to serving our own wellbeing is vital for helping us keep on keeping on.

That said, knowing what to do to take care of yourself whilst helping to quiet that internal monologue isn’t always easy. Knowing this, spas have always been dedicated to creating space that allows you to spend time focusing on what you need. Of course, they can be great places to spend time with loved ones, but ultimately, it’s all about you.

Solo spa days for wellbeing

In particular, Grayshott Spa has always been a wonderful example for this, making it easy for solo travellers to spend time as they want, looking after their own mental and physical health, but interacting with others as much or as little as they please.

For example, they have a wealth of knowledge and experience available thanks to the likes of Elaine Williams, the Director of Natural Therapeutics (qualified in osteopathy, naturopathy, acupuncture, reflexology, aromatherapy and advanced massage, as well as being a registered general nurse and has a Bachelors (BSC) in Psychology), and Stephanie Moore, the in house Clinical Nutritionist. They also have a range of facilities and classes, beautiful grounds, talks and seminars available to join and beautiful rooms to relax in.

Food has always been a big part of the experience at Grayshott Spa. It is healthy but tasty from a menu created by nutritionists. They also provide the option for dining alone, or, there’s traditionally a sharers table in the restaurant in case solo travellers want some company (hopefully returning soon, Covid pending). And of course, treatments are also central to the experience.

Dedicated solo spa packages

With all of this in mind, the spa packages that they have created have solo travellers in mind. Their Three Night Rest and Retreat Package is the perfect example:

  • Three nights’ bed and breakfast in a Standard room
  • Dinner on each day
  • Lunch on each day
  • £200 spa treatment credit
  • Complimentary health consultation
  • Use of the facilities, exercise and relaxation classes
