Spas when on period

Part of the Spabreaks.com Spa FAQs guide

Can you visit a spa when you're on your period?

We do often get asked if you can go to a spa when you’re on your period. The answer is yes, absolutely. You can go on a spa day or break on your period, and you can have spa treatments on your period. What treatment you have and what facilities you use however, will be determined by how you feel and what you feel comfortable with. Given the relevant sanitary solutions, there’s no reason you shouldn’t use all spa facilities whilst on your period. Depending on where you are in your cycle however, you may want to be a little more mindful of staying hydrated, especially when using saunas and steam rooms, and taking it easy when it comes to exercise. In terms of spa treatments, the same rule of thumb applies. It’s about how comfortable you feel. For example, some people prefer to opt for a treatment which doesn’t require you to remove large portions of clothing whilst on their period. For example, you might choose a facial instead of a full body scrub or wrap, which may require you to dress in the classic paper knickers, but again, this is entirely about what you feel comfortable with. Perhaps most importantly, when it comes to your spa treatments, always feel free to ask therapist advice or if they can adapt your treatment. This is your time, so it’s important you feel safe, comfortable and happy.
