The mountain Mihintale holds the ruins of what is widely believed to be the world’s first hospital, and the retreat reflects that by creating an all encompassing wellness experience. All the while, you are surrounded by ancient trees, monuments and awe inspiring natural scenery such as the beautiful Amuna Ayurveda Retreat alongside facilities including a herbal bath.
Guests visit on a set programme such as SUWASHANTHI or SUWASADANA, which involve between seven and 25 days of treatments, therapies, yoga and meditation such as Sambahana, Abyanga, Linda Sweda, Shirodhara, Avagaha Sweda, Shiro Abyanga, Vakthra Therapy and reflexology.

An Ayurvedic wellness retreat in the heart of Sri Lanka, Amuna Ayurveda Retreat this authentic and holistic experience that’s rooted in Sri Lankan culture. Surrounded by lush vegetation, the resort has been built with care for the landscape, an area of about 20 acres housing the guest rooms, restaurant, lobby, consultation room, treatment and therapy rooms. Using eco-friendly materials, the eight dwellings, one villa and the three tree house guest rooms are designed to merge elegantly with the vibes of AMUNA. These feature exteriors of ancient traditional elegance. All rooms have beautiful views of lush paddy fields and distant mountains.
In keeping with the Ayurvedic theme, food at Amuna Ayurveda Retreat follows the Ayurvedic practices believing the diet of an individual plays an important complementary role in health and wellbeing. As a result, each guest is prescribed a diet consistent with a physician’s diagnosis and recommended treatment.
