Galley Bay Resort & Spa, P.O. Box 305 Five Island Antigua
P.O. Box 305
Spa & Leisure
An intimate Caribbean hideaway on the beautiful island of Antigua, all focused around the hotel’s white sandy beach by clear turquoise water. The boutique hotel sits in 40 acres of tropical gardens, and has a series of suites as well as distinctive Gauguin suites inspired by the famed artist and reflecting his lifestyle in Tahiti. Think peace, privacy and style characterized by woven bamboo ceilings, louvered windows and terracotta tiles with bold splashes of bright color that echo Gauguin's absorbing natural palette.
The hotel is a feast for the senses, so accordingly there are three alfresco dining experiences as well as a more casual Barefoot Grill. For a fine dining experience, the in resort restaurant of Ismays is the perfect choice (additional supplement charges apply). Executive Chef Andrew Baxter carefully melds Caribbean with continental flavours into wonderfully original dishes with the likes of Blue Mountain Coffee-dusted beef tenderloin, served with a spiced mango Béarnaise, and accompanied by sweet potato mille-feuille.
Hotel & Accommodation
Your first port of call when you arrive at Galley Bay is likely to be the beach, where activities other than basking in sun baked bliss include snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing and swimming. There’s also a gym, tennis courts, and the spa, which is centrally located at the resort, adjacent to the calming waters of their own lagoon and surrounding bird sanctuary.
The spa is a multi-level hideaway with oodles of space and featuring three massage areas, including two rustic, open-air treetop treatment pods. The pods are rough-hewn, airy massage decks draped with sheer, white curtains for privacy, and both overlook the aforementioned bird sanctuary and lagoon. They offer a full range of face and body treatments, as well as salon services and the combination of location and luxury are guaranteed to give you an enviable healthy glow.
