Staff and spa were lovely. There really isn't a "swimming pool" at this hotel more of a warm dip next to a lovely jacuzzi. There is an outside pool that is heated but only one person can swim, just about as the steps are this side. On the other half of the pool is a huge jacuzzi bench. Having said this it was more than made up for by the quiet room with variety of teas and dried fruits to nibble and the fabulous treatments. None of us felt we had been rushed and each treatment felt longer than the 25mins.
The food was fabulous and delicious desserts. Waiters in the restaurant looked after us well.
All in all had a great day, definitely worth the money as lunch was included.
Thank you for arranging it all for our group.
We arrived and were not greeted very nicely as we were 5 minuets late. My deluxe manicure was done in a cold recess next to the reception and gym and was not as it was advertised and i had to get my nails re done afterwards as they were so bad.The body wrap we had was nice but again was nothing like what was advertised. When we wanted to go into the relaxation room there was no space and no beds only seats in the wet spa free. definitely would not go again.
We had a very relaxing spa day! My therapist, Sonia, was lovely and the massage was great. The spa area is a bit small but it wasn’t a problem, and it was also very clean. The only thing missing was a big swimming pool. The food and service at the restaurant were excellent!
Receptionist requires training. No prosecco was offered on arrival. No mention of gym was given. No instruction given as to when or where to go for lunch/afternoon tea. Magazines are only useful if you're planning to redecorate. Change rooms had not been cleaned so baskets were overflowing with towels and gowns and slippers scattered all over the floor.
Pippa the therapist was however amazing.
Hi
this was my first experience of a Spa day and not at all what I expected,
Firstly We arrived to find our treatments had been booked in at the wrong time. instead of being at 2pm they had been booked in at 4pm and as we had only paid to park the car till 5 we had to rush once the treatment was over. then to top it all my treatment was 15mins late as the client in front of me was running late. which meant i had only had 25mins and then found it difficult to relax.
We were not shown around the area.
We were not offered our Complimentary drink on arrival and had to ask for it.
I found the whole experience rushed and stressful and very disappointing
Guilford Harbour hotel is a lovely upon arrival with a spacious, modern reception and bar area in a fantastic location. Unfortunately arrival times at the spa were not staggered and the spa reception is small, so it was extremely busy and the 'check-in' period took up to half an hour. They didn't have the correct name for me which added further delays and upon arriving into the very small changing room, there was barely any room to get ready. There is also only one toilet in the whole spa, which is not ideal on a packed spa day and when heavily pregnant. The wet area is nice but again, very small - beds were all taken up and you had to rely on people leaving for their treatments to get one. The beds were not changed in between so were often covered in someone else's wet towels and there were half full cups of water and used magazines strewn all over the place. There was someone there to regularly clean the floor but given it was a wet room, it would have been better if it was regularly tidied up so that each guest could enjoy it rather than dodging wet towels and cups. The treatments were ok - it felt very much like you were in and out for less than your allotted time slot. My friend was not asked what massage she wanted (head or hand) for her facial so had tonnes of oil put in her clean hair meaning that she then had to wash it before tea. After the treatment you were shown to the relaxation room which we were told had 'dried fruit, nuts and refreshments' only to find a container half full of dates and one pot of almost empty tea, again with a room full of used wet towels strewn across the beds.
Because tea was at a set time, the tiny changing rooms were packed full of women trying to get ready at the same time. There was just very little space and it was far from relaxing. Upon arrival to the restaurant area for the tea, we were instructed to wait by a very rude unfriendly waiter who then came back and asked for our names and showed us to the one table we were allowed to sit at. Luckily, he handed over to a nicer waiter who explained how the tea worked and took our order. The food at the tea was nice, although there was a kids party of about 20 behind us so we couldn't really hear each other. My friends also very clearly ordered a specific bottle of white wine, only to be told at the end that they had ordered a different one which was £12 more and that it was our mistake! As compensation they said they would take off the service charge, which then seemed to result in no service, as we had to put our leftovers in our own doggy bags!
Overall, it was a disappointment for the money and a real shame, as it could have been a great spa day but you were made to feel like it was a conveyer belt, lacking in basic facilities management and customer service.
I’ve visited many spas but Guildford Harbour is among my top 2 on the same standard as Alexandra House. The lunch was excellent, spa wonderful we left after our treatment feeling like we were floating on clouds.
We were disappointed on arrival to find that there was no parking and the parking that was offered was £7 per car, at no time were we made aware of this even when the chap rang me on Saturday morning to confirm, the treatments stated a body scrub and head massage, the scrub was lovely but there was no head massage given. The food was delicious and catered for food intolerances. The spa was very tiny and overcrowded. Overall quite a disappointing day.
A small but good spa facility within the hotel. Large outdoor pool (not used as it was raining), but a nice plunge pool and large spa pool inside. Good hot steam room. Good hot showers in the spa and changing rooms. Toiletries and hair dryers provided. Robe & slippers provided. Lovely choice of treatments. Excellent afternoon tea, served in the restaurant just outside the spa. Was able to book a 1/2 day package at very short notice.
Me and my friend had a back massage and facial treatment it was absolutely amazing, very relaxing.
Facility’s were good even the outdoor pool was warmer than the indoor pool.
Parking was a nightmare, hotel said they had a car park but didn’t realise you still had to pay. Needs to say this on there website.
I booked a spa half day for my daughter & I was it was her birthday.. we had a wonderful time.. the treatments were great and the spa is lovely although a little on the small side so at times it seemed quite busy although that didn’t bother us.. there looks a nice outside area, unfortunately it was abit cold for that.. I definitely recommend!
The spa experience on the whole was positive, however there was an issue with communication. I booked the indulgent spa day, however when I called the spa the day before to confirm arrival times they were unaware of the deal and stated I did not have afternoon tea included. I was also told on the phone my treatments were at 1200, but I arranged them through spa breaks to have them at 1015 to allow us time to use the facilities afterwards and then have the tea. It was rearranged on the phone with the spa directly and all seemed sorted. When I arrived I queried the afternoon tea and the man at reception stated he didn't know about it and we would just have to ask the manager at the restaurant later, even when I asked about times I was told to go to tea "between 12-1ish maybe". During the spa I also realised we didn't get our prosecco on arrival, this again was sorted out when I asked about it later. On the whole the Spa itself was nice, relaxing environment and good massages, however I booked this as a 30th birthday treat for my partner and I was expecting a higher level of communication and seamless service for the money we paid.
The spa booking hadn’t been forwarded to the staff at the spa which resulted in almost being charged twice. Our ‘55 minute’ massage was barely 45 minutes, which wasn’t the length I'd paid for, as a result it’s unlikely I would recommend this package or return.
I was disappointed with my trip to Guildford Harbour hotel. I had booked a spa day for myself and for my partner for his birthday. As soon as we arrived I felt annoyed that I had to pay £7 just to park my car for the day. This wasn’t in my confirmation email.
As soon as we arrived in the spa the manager was extremely rude and was questioning me in front of my partner as to if I had already paid for the spa day and who I booked it through. She then needed proof of payment.
For our treatments I was once again very disappointed. I had booked a face, back and scalp massage but somehow I ended up having a leg, arm, back, chest and scalp massage. My partner had the treatment I had booked us in for. I felt my treatment was rushed and being a beauty therapist myself, i didn’t feel comfortable during the treatments as I had a tiny towel which didn’t cover the whole of my body and I felt cold. I wasn’t given a pillow for my head either. Throughout my treatment I could also hear lots of people talking outside my treatment room which i found very frustrating considering I paid a considerable amount of money for this spa day.
The spa itself was beautifully laid out and was peaceful and felt clean. The lunch was outstanding and we thoroughly enjoyed it. However I will not be recommending this spa to my friends or family and I won’t be coming back.
Overall it was an amazing experience. Had 2 treatments at the spa which were fantastic. The facilities were great and the staff were very friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel
Had an awesome facial done by Amy. It was relaxing and felt great afterwards. Would definitely go again. Reception area was unfortunately dark and cold had to fill out a form but could hardly see 😕
One of the best massages I've ever had. Very professional therapist. Food excellent!
Lovely hotel but lacks proper pool.
Reception and greeting lukewarm.
Overall very good
I was disappointed that there was no pool big enough to actually swim in and I was not happy to have to get out of the outside pool to get a piece of paper that I had previously given to the receptionist. That said the treatment was exceptional and the lunch amazing and very good value.
Staff were lovely and very accommodating - rearranged things last minute as I was feeling ill. Massage was also excellent. Facilities slightly limited due to size but nonetheless very good. Robes and slippers seemed to be available however for some reason we didn’t get any. Tea and coffee also not included.
On the whole a lovely hotel. Rooms comfortable and adequate but lack small things like bathmat, robes, blackout curtains.
Staff friendly but some a bit annoying.
Expected food to be better. Nothing particularly writing with it but didn’t blow me away. Breakfast choice limited compared to likes of Hilton etc.
Spa was lovely - facilities and staff great.
