Originally called the ‘Iceland Cottage’ the Ice House is a place steeped in history. Strategically positioned on the Moy estuary where tons of wild salmon were preserved here under ice before being shipped to the markets of Dublin and Liverpool. Today it is a contemporary hotel offering inspiring architectural design and city chic style. Modern glass structures marry with the original 19th century building and views stretch across the river to the woodlands beyond. With 32 deluxe bedrooms, riverside and heritage suites, the Ice House has a sense of intimacy as well as space and a combination of historic and contemporary styles depending on which room you choose to stay in.

The hotel’s restaurant is perched on the banks of Ballina’s salmon estuary and the Mayo born Head Chef who hails from Achill Island offers a variety of seafood dishes and seasonal ingredients.
