The area had been heavily bombed during the Second World War, and from 1959 a period of redevelopment ensued, with a complex of Modernist buildings, collectively known as Piccadilly Plaza. The Piccadilly Hotel was part of that process, designed by Covell, Matthews & Partners. Having changed hands in 2021, it’s undergone significant refurbishment to turn it into an elegant, modern hotel.
