The hotel is a really old building, with lots of different parts added on over the past few hundred years. We were told the main part where the reception desk was dates back to 1420! It has a lovely feel to it.
The twin rooms we had were nice with comfy beds, clean linen and clean, modern bathrooms. The carpets were slightly tired, but were clean. Our rooms (18) and (19) were quite a way from the main reception desk, but was nice as we then had no one walking past our rooms. It was like we had our own little wing!
The main corridors were not quite as clean as they could be and didn't look like they had been cleaned for a couple of days which was a shame. The carpets here and the decor were a little tired and dated.
The staff were all lovely! Everyone from the check in staff, to the bar and restaurant staff, to the spa staff were very courteous and friendly.
The food in the restaurant was delicious. We all thoroughly enjoyed the 3 course meals we had. The portions were also very generous. Also, on Sunday, they only served Sunday lunch but we were able to get a hot roast meat sandwich on request which was delicious also.
The hotel was easy to find and was in a nice setting. For the money we paid per person for our dinner, bed, breakfast and treatment, it was excellent value.
