Spa & Leisure

Taking inspiration from the Cornish coast, spa and leisure at St Michael’s Hotel and Spa in Falmouth offers a contemporary and idyllic experience, following a multi-million-pound renovation in 2018. Spa and leisure sit separately, with the health club offering the largest indoor pool in the area as well as a toddler pool, a sun terrace and four tennis courts. It is also home to a dedicated Gig Rowing Studio and rowing classes taken to the sound of ocean-themed song. Meanwhile, the spa itself is a haven of relaxation, home to the world’s first Cornish sea salt steam room which infuses the local salt into the steam air to help reduce toxins and clear the lungs, the largest hydrotherapy pool in the South West complete with 21 massage stations and heated poolside loungers, a rainforest steam room, a glass-fronted Finnish herbal sauna, a Moroccan rhassoul offering a mud-steam experience and three experience showers, including an ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’. The journey then continues into the garden where there is a sundeck, red cedar-wood hot tub and a barrel sauna with sea views.

When it comes to treatments the space is equally well considered, with a deep relaxation room and specialist manicure and pedicure Champagne bar using OPI products, and 10 treatment rooms offering more than 60 different therapies as well as signature experiences from St Michael’s Spa such as the Muscle Repair Massage and Mud treatment and The Yoga Facial, all using brands including Elemis, Made for Life Organics (handmade in Cornwall), The Natural Spa Factory, Ishga and Natura Bisse.

Hotel & Accommodation

Falmouth is one of those places in the UK that brings the world of chocolate box images to life thanks to the abundance of boutique shops, sandy beaches, and ocean vistas. Arrive into an oak ‘hull’ in reception and you’re automatically transported into the nautical realm where, following a renovation of the entire hotel, St Michael’s Hotel invites guests to stay in one of its 32 rooms and suites. All rooms and suites continue the contemporary coastal chic in a symphony of blues and whites. With 6ft wide beds, Elemis bathroom products and Lavazza coffee machines, attention to detail is exemplary.

Dining is a laid back affair with two restaurants including the Brasserie on the Bay and the Garden Kitchen. The Brasserie serves fresh and seasonal Cornish produce with an emphasis on fresh fish, while the Garden Kitchen serves stone-baked pizzas, rustic dishes, healthy salads and deli dishes. It also has its own juice and smoothie bar and enjoys sweeping views over Gyllyngvase beach.
