The Grove was originally built as a private home around 1720 by Charles Buck, and served as the family seat of the Earls of Clarendon and then the Villiers family. It's been updated and extended over time, before opening as a hotel in March 2002 to great fanfare.

It is recommended however that you check your specific spa booking times before arrival, and that you check for any changes to regular opening times, particularly relating to bank holidays, before you visit.
