About the spa
Designed with Zen minimalism in mind, anyone who has been to The Hempel knows that this is the place to go for an all-round luxury experience designed to give you a little five-star respite when staying in London. The Zen garden, as featured in the movie ‘Notting Hill’ being a particular case-in-point that inspires time for contemplation amongst the best-behaved hedgerows the city has ever seen.
Of course, when staying here it is a case of whatever the guest wants, The Hempel will provide … so while working out in a gym or pool is not what it’s all about, for those in need of a little pampering, therapists can be arranged on request to deliver in-room treatments.
About the accommodation
The design embodiment of its namesake, British designer Anouska Hempel, whose work ranges from interiors to fashion and even holds a place amongst the permanent collections at the Victoria and Albert Museum; The Hempel is a boutique hotel, moments from Hyde Park, with 50 bedrooms combining pared-down style and contemporary luxury with aplomb.
While relaxation is very much built into the framework of the building, it isn’t to the detriment of a very sensual, chic experience, which extends to the bar and dining areas. The No.35 Restaurant looking out onto the aforementioned Zen garden serves a contemporary British and European menu, while the No.31 Lounge Bar is a stylish favourite amongst the Notting Hill crowd – not least of all because of the cocktail creations of its imaginative mixologist, Joel Miguel.
