Why we love Marriott Hanbury Manor

A jewel for the ultimate spa break in Hertfordshire

Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club is a firm favourite of spa goers looking for a relaxed destination that combines heritage with seasoned, easy going hospitality. The Spa features a heated indoor swimming pool, sauna and steam rooms, whirlpool and a newly refurbished fitness centre with over 30 studio classes per week. Here are just a few of the reasons we love it.

The warm and inviting spa

The spa and leisure facilities at Hanbury Manor have everything you need for modern wellbeing but with a Neo-Classical twist. Columns surround the 17-metre pool, popular for swimming lengths or lazing in the water. There are 7 treatment rooms, a manicure and pedicure space, an outdoor lounge (perfect on a beautiful day!), sauna and steam rooms, and separate ladies and gentlemen changing facilities. Therapists use a combination of Elemis, Aromatherapy Associates and Made for Life Organics in their collection of treatments. Day spa packages are also available. Looking for something a little more active? The fitness centre was refurbished in 2022 and boasts an extensive range of Technogym equipment, including a new group cycling studio and over 30 studio classes per week.

The hotel spa location

While Hanbury Manor sits quietly within the extensive estate, it's also incredibly convenient to access, and is a great base for exploring the surrounding area. Located in picturesque Hertfordshire, it's just off the A10 and junction 25 of the M25, within easy reach of London and popular nearby attractions such as:

  • Hanbury Hall and Gardens
  • Harry Potter Studios
  • Hatfield House
  • Hertford Castle
  • St Albans Cathedral

The historic hotel architecture

An impressive former manor house, Hanbury Manor has retained a sense of elegance and grandeur across the decades. Dating back to the 1800s, it was a family home for 113 years, with one of the later descendants having a keen interest in horticulture, establishing an impressive walled garden and famous orchards.

The award-winning 18-hole golf course

The golf course was added in 1913 thanks to one of the manor’s original owners, although it was initially only nine holes with use exclusive to the family. Today, however, the course is a 7,052 yard, par 72, PGA championship course set within the 200 acre estate. Hanbury Manor has hosted numerous European Tour and Seniors Tour events, and is a central feature of your stay.

The warm hotel welcome

Hanbury Manor is a Marriott hotel, and with that comes a conviviality as well as tried and tested expertise that makes you feel instantly at home. It's stylish but unpretentious and easy to unwind in - perfect weather it's a long-looked-forward-to getaway or a last-minute spa break.
