Spa & Leisure
The design of the spa at Armathwaite Hall is in stark, contemporary contrast to the original building, but sympathetically so; and key amongst its features is the view of the lake and Skiddaw mountain. Facilities include a gym, infinity pool, tropical shower, wallow pool, rain dance shower, outdoor hot-tub, hydrotherapy pool, steam room, sauna, tranquillity room, spa lounge and an aroma steam room with cooling Kneipp hoses, as well as a waterfall for good measure.
Naturally, all those facilities are accompanied by 10 treatment rooms using a potent combination of element-inspired Terrake products and Italian brand Comfort Zone in a collection that ranges from facials, massages, scrubs and wraps, to manicures, pedicures, finishing touches, bridal hair and make-up and signature rituals.
Hotel & Accommodation
Owned by the Graves family, Armathwaite Hall has existed on the banks of the Bassenthwaite Lake in the Lake District since the 11th Century. Today it boasts 46 rooms each with its own unique features including wood panelling, fireplaces and opulent colour themes in both the main house and renovated outbuildings.
The Lake View Restaurant’s moniker sort of gives the game away as to its dominant aesthetic characteristic, but in addition to the view, the grand dining room also offers a wealth of Cumbrian sourced ingredients prepared by Master Chef Kevin Dowling, in an Anglo/French fusion menu. Breakfast, lunch and afternoon teas are also served in the main dining area.
