Read full postIf you’re looking for a luxury spa hotel experience, you have to visit Windsor this summer. In the shadow of Windsor Castle on the edge of the famous park, Fairmont Windsor Park is the five-star newcomer to the wellbeing scene, and it’s arriving with a bang! Here are just five (of many) reasons to visit!
Let’s start with the hotel. This purpose-build destination is vast and exquisite at every turn. It’s five-star all the way with more than 200 rooms and suites decorated with a combination of natural stone and soft textures to create a refined but sumptuous environment. In addition to being spacious, each room has been appointed with thoughtful details to make your stay as seamless as possible, such as vast bathrooms, luxurious tea and coffee making facilities, plush bathrobes and even a cocktail bar in the suites. Some also have balconies and most have views onto the grounds.
There are six restaurants and bars to choose from as well as private dining and room service. The fine dining, 1215, is set on the south lawn overlooking the private terrace and gardens. The Moreish Restaurant serves an extensive traditional breakfast and in the evening offers a fusion of European and Middle-Eastern food. Then there’s Greens Cafe - the wellbeing restaurant situated inside the Spa and Wellness facility. There’s also the cosy Library Club for cocktails, whiskies and brandies, Schroder’s Botanicals Bar for smoothies in the morning and local and international gins in the afternoon, and the Orchid Tea Room for pastries, teas and fine Champagne.
The hotel and spa are surrounded by 40 acres of grounds and gardens leading on to the historic Windsor Great Park. It’s all perfectly manicured, and definitely adds to the wellbeing experience, whether it’s heading out for a walk amongst the greenery or taking in the views.
There’s so much to be said about the spa. From the treatments to the facilities it is over 2,500m2 of spa space. It has been exquisitely designed, adopting a neutral colour palette that instantly makes you feel rested, alongside organic materials that soften the space. Favourite features include a traditional Hammam (for up to six people), a 20-metre indoor pool and a courtyard hydrotherapy vitality pool, a thermal suite encompassing a sauna, steam room, a cryotherapy chamber, experience shower, heated tepidarium bench and Japanese foot bath. There are also both light and deep relaxation rooms, and a salt room with views over the courtyard vitality pool and fire pit. For working out, there’s an indoor and outdoor gym as well as three outdoor tennis courts.
When it comes to treatments, the approach embraces both holistic wellbeing and the innovations of a modern spa clinic. They offer health assessments with a cardiac stress test, lifestyle review and 4D scanning. There are 18 treatment rooms as well as a private spa suite with its own rasul and hot tub, and they are able to offer offer specialised health treatments ranging from physiotherapy to osteopathy, acupuncture and nutritional therapy, through to Ayurvedic rituals, vitamin infusions, massages, facials and cleansing hammam experiences. Adding the finishing touches to the all-encompassing destination, Fairmont Spa & Wellness also has a hair salon, offers precision maintenance in the Finishing Studio and barbering by the celebrated Truefitt & Hill.
