The architecture is one of the first things that really strikes you about Marine Hotel - North Berwick. Imposing at first glance, it's aching to tell its story. Described as a ‘Grand Old Lady’, who has been restored to her former glory, the hotel honours its past whilst offering a modern spa hotel escape. Beyond the 19th century Victorian architecture, rooms reflect the past with rich wallpapers and deep colours, luxe velvets and antique furniture, all polished to a high shine and clearly immaculately cared for following a major refurbishment in 2021. It's romantic, welcoming and everything you want in a getaway.
With enviable views of the Firth of Forth and Bass Rock, Marine Hotel - North Berwick surveys the impressive East Lothian landscape. The hotel is surrounded by 30 miles of breathtaking coastal terrain, which boasts 21 golf courses, all with their own characteristics - take your pick. For those who prefer to simply take it all in, head out for a stroll or enjoy the views from the hotel. There are also plenty of local attractions, not least - Dirleton Castle, the Scottish Seabird Centre and the Museum of Childhood.
The spa at Marine Hotel - North Berwick enhances the sense of relaxation created by the coastal surroundings. There's a collection of leisure facilities including include a gym, exercise classes, a sauna, steam room, sensation shower, cold therapy room, massage shower and salt water hydro-pool. The cherry on top is the glass-surrounded swimming pool. The spa treatments are a particular treat, drawing on the healing powers of Bordeaux vineyards, they use French skincare brand Caudalie in a variety of face and body therapies.
Food is a real treat at this spa hotel. The Lawn restaurant is overseen by The Professionals’ and National Chef of the Year finalist, Chris Niven, who focuses on the very best ingredients from East Lothian. He also oversees the menu at the hotel’s bar and lounge, The Bass Rock, known for its cocktails, international wines, award-winning whiskies and Scottish craft beers and ales.
