What first appears as a contemporary hotel is a destination with hidden depths. The Bridge Hotel & Spa is a longstanding favourite amongst Spabreakers for its commitment to great experiences in every aspect of your stay. From the hotel to the spa, here's what you need to know.
The hotel takes its name from the 12th-century bridge crossing the nearby River Nidd, and is a nod to its former guise as a coaching station for stagecoaches in the 1800s. Look carefully, and you can still see that heritage reflected in its architecture, while rooms and suites are decorated in rich colours but offer modern style and sophistication.
The atmosphere is one of the most joyful parts of a trip to The Bridge Hotel & Spa, where staff greet you with a warm Yorkshire welcome and a 'nothing is too much trouble' attitude. Susan, who visited, said:
"Lovely, polite and friendly staff. Spa facilities were good. Spa treatment was very good. Would definitely recommend it."
The spa takes inspiration from nearby spa town, Harrogate, famed for its reputedly healing ‘chalybeate’ or iron infused waters discovered in the 16th-century. Set around pretty gardens, which they have incorporated into indoor/outdoor wellbeing experiences, the spa has carefully considered facilities with favourite features including:
The hotel restaurant continues with a historic theme with its oak beams, high ceilings and traditional décor that offer a warm ambience. Local food and drink are the order of the day, inviting you to settle in for the evening. The Byron Whisky Bar is an ode to its famous, eponymous romantic rogue, and is complete with 250 year old oak panelling and an original Inglenook fireplace – the perfect place to relax.
Not only is The Bridge Hotel & Spa a beautiful place to visit in itself, it's also in a wonderful location for exploring the surrounding area. North Yorkshire is rich in history and natural beauty, with top local attractions including:
