The charity delivering EFT to frontline staff

NHS

Often, therapy isn’t about fixing a problem but learning how to manage periods of stress or personal challenges. Emotional Freedom Technique can be a powerful way of helping to handle stress and trauma, which is why the FAST Frontline Assistance for Stress and Trauma has been offering free one-to-one emotional support for ALL frontline healthcare and emergency workers in the UK impacted by Covid-19.

What is Emotional Freedom Technique?

EFT is an effective, simple self-help tools that can be used anywhere, any time to help manage stress. For many people with issues such as anxiety or even handling food cravings, it can be an extremely helpful tool to help self soothe. It’s basically tapping on acupuncture points to relax the body and put it into a relaxed state.  It can work really quickly. Some things work in one session, some take longer.

What is it supposed to do?

It’s supposed to calm the system.  There’s something about tapping, particularly on the collarbone, people say it’s like a heartbeat, and it’s relaxing. It can be used to help with physical and emotional issues including general anxiety and stress.

What is FAST?

FAST Trauma Support is here to provide support for healthcare and emergency workers. It’s free of charge for anyone who registers for support and is entirely self-funded, relying on donations.

At the end of March 2020, professional therapist Wendy Stoten was asked by a colleague to offer an online treatment to a family member. She was a nurse on a Covid-19 Intensive Care Unit in the middle of the first spike, and she was struggling with overwhelming stress. The change in just one short session was remarkable and other requests followed.

Frontline Assistance for Stress and Trauma (FAST) was formed soon after, swiftly growing into a 35 strong team of qualified and experienced Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) practitioners. They wanted to volunteer their skills and expertise to healthcare professionals, both in the NHS and the private sector.
