Read full postTraditionally, January is the month of detox. However, rather than associating the start of the New Year with self denial, we consider this month the perfect start of a new resolution around self-care, and we are calling it Jan-you-ary.
After all that time buying presents, giving, hosting and generally focusing on everyone else over the festive season, we consider this to be the month of self-care. In short, this month is all about you, as Jan-you-ary sets the tone for a year of making time for yourself, whether it’s pampering and indulgence or the little rituals that help look after mind, body and soul.
For some, Jan-you-ary may still mean starting the year with that detox after months of heady consumption - after all, done properly, a detox can be fulfilling, rewarding and brimming with feel-good factor.
On the other hand, perhaps you want to give up smoking, or take up a healthy new habit, discover the joy of exercise in nature or be inspired with healthy food demos. Maybe you’re craving some peace and quiet and can just picture yourself having that massage with a sea view and nothing but clear skies, mountains, lakes and no mobile phone signal for a few days.
Whatever self-care means to you, this month is about taking the time to give that to yourself, free of guilt and recognising that it’s ok to look after you.
All that in mind, we know that saying that can be a lot easier than doing it. So at Spabreaks.com, Jan-you-ary is about helping you to create the space to start healthy, self-care habits, whether it’s meditation or monthly manicures that give you breathing space and feel good factor. Setting the scene for your self-care journey, we have curated spa days and breaks to help you shift gears and get ideas for sustainable self-care.
So, let’s start as we mean to go on, embracing the true spirit of Jan-you-ary - you deserve it!
