Why we love The Langley

Stay in aristocratic splendour at the former hunting lodge of the Duke of Marlborough

It's hard to find reasons not to fall in love with The Langley, truth be told. The impressive Palladian mansion has an illustrious history, beautiful grounds, five-star standards and the cherry on top is its contemporary spa. Got your attention? Here are just a few of the reasons we adore a spa break at The Langley.

The magnificent architecture

Built between 1756 and 1760, the main Langley Park House is a feast for the eyes from the moment you arrive. Formerly owned by the third Duke of Marlborough, it was built as a hunting lodge and today it still has a delicious air of heritage and grandeur.

The scenic location

The Langley sits within a UNESCO World Heritage Site and National Park and over 150 acres of formal gardens and parklands, designed by the iconic Lancelot 'Capability' Brown. It is close to Windsor in Buckinghamshire- so much so that a stroll through the Temple gardens will reveal a view to Windsor Castle, so you know you're in excellent company. Explore the grounds and beyond, with nearby activities ranging from falconry on an English estate, to horse riding in Windsor Great Park and learning how to play polo. The hotel is only too happy to help you arrange your time here.

Luxury hotel features

Continuing the exclusive feel of the place, while the property is expansive, there are just 41 rooms and suites to stay in, spread across the main house as well as the Brew House, a Grade II listed 18th century outbuilding. Both quarters of the hotel have different styles, but all enjoy plenty of space and a sense of luxury. Some also have private terraces.

Luxury dining experiences

At any luxury hotel food and drink are a central feature and The Langley is no exception. The Cedar Restaurant is an elegant, high-ceilinged space with contemporary chandeliers, serving European cuisine with influences from Spain, France and Italy, all using local ingredients. The Churchill Bar is all heritage colours and leather bound books - a cosy space where you can tuck into light bites, or sip cognac and cocktails. There's even a rare choice of cigars stored in a custom humidor. For those partial to an afternoon tea, head to the Drawing Room, where original artworks adorn the walls and views of the gardens and lake create the perfect backdrop for sandwiches and cake. Meanwhile, those taking time to enjoy the spa can spend the entire day there, thanks to the Spa Lounge - a dedicated wellbeing cafe with indulgent appeal.

The contemporary spa

The creation of a purpose-built, 17,000 square foot spa in partnership with luxury French beauty brand Sisley and British fitness guru, Matt Roberts, catapults The Langley into the modern, luxury hotel stratosphere. This is a space that perfectly combines decadence and wellbeing. Its range of physio therm facilities use infrared technique to improve circulation, stimulate metabolism and detoxify. There's an infinity edge vitality pool, Himalayan salt sauna with a juniper wall, a brine-infused steam room with a citronite crystal, a hammam, and a marble edged swimming pool. There's a women's only spa area complete with its own loungers, a sanarium, a rose quartz steam room that uses a rose infusion, a vitality pool and another hammam. To top it all off, there are spa butlers on hand to make sure you have everything you need throughout the day.

The VIP spa suite

There are some occasions that require luxury to scale new heights - maybe it's a celebration, or you frankly just feel like spoiling yourself. On days such as these, book the VIP suite. It is complete with a private butler, Champagne, fruit and anything else that you want. There's a private juniper-infused sauna, vitality pool, amethyst steam room, and you can waft in and out of the main facilities as well.

Luxury spa treatments

The final feature we can't help but tell you about, are the spa treatments. Working with Sisley for results-driven and highly focused facials, and Sultane de Saba for all body and hammam ‘journeys’, the spa has four single treatment rooms and one double room. There are also hammam therapies to enjoy, men's treatments from Gentleman’s Tonic, and finishing touches including tanning, manicures and pedicures.
