Grantley Hall trains spa therapists in oncology touch therapies

A unique and beautiful spa treatment to help soothe the side effects of cancer treatment

The beautiful, five-star luxury spa hotel, Grantley Hall in Yorkshire, is introducing oncology touch therapies for cancer patients, after working with specialist therapist trainer, Jennifer Young.

The exquisite spa is a wonderful place for rest, relaxation and well-deserved pampering at any time, but following a cancer diagnosis it's a dream location for a little self-care and escapism. Making sure you know you're in safe hands, whatever your healthcare needs, is very much at the forefront of their spa goals, so it is fitting that they chose to introduce this beautiful treatment to their collection.

Grantley Hall

Touch therapies to support cancer patients

Jennifer Young's data-driven approach to supporting cancer patients is well known in the spa industry. She provides skincare products that have been created in collaboration with NHS cancer patients, and therapist training in a variety of oncology touch treatments including facials, massages and reflexology.

Jennifer Young’s treatments can be adapted for individual requirements at all stages of the cancer journey, giving therapists the knowledge and tools they need to understand the client's experience, the medical treatment they may be receiving and to tailor therapies for optimal comfort and efficacy.

A bespoke spa treatment

Working with Grantley Hall, Jennifer created a bespoke top-to-toe treatment for the luxury spa destination. Formulated around her collection of Wellbeing Body Oils, the unique Therapeutic Body and Face Experience focuses on nine core objectives, including:

  • Relaxation
  • Sleep
  • Focus
  • Energy
  • Confidence
  • Headaches
  • Nausea
  • Holistic wellness
  • Calm

The unique treatment uses acupressure points associated with the side effects of cancer treatments, which are also addressed through the natural ingredients of corresponding Wellbeing Body Oils.

When Grantley Hall set out to offer oncology touch therapies to their clients, therapists specifically requested to work with Jennifer Young and her team.

Rebecca Doyle, Spa & Wellness Manager, said: “Our experienced spa therapists are delighted to be working in collaboration with Jennifer Young to offer our guests tailored oncology massage treatments. Our spa therapists are proud to be fully trained in inclusive treatments, allowing those going through the cancer journey some respite and relaxation. The new treatments enhance the existing wellness philosophy behind the Three Graces Spa, which is based on balance and wellbeing.”

Jennifer Young said: "Grantley Hall is one of the most beautiful spa destinations in the UK. Their approach to excellence is unparalleled and that shines through in the attitude of their spa therapists who strive to support all clients who come to them. It was a joy to work with a team who wanted not only to offer oncology massage, but to make sure that the experience was every bit as luxurious as any other treatment on their menu. While all of our oncology touch therapies are designed for enjoyment as well as efficacy, the collaboration with Grantley Hall enabled us to take the experience even further, creating something really beautiful for anyone visiting the spa following a cancer diagnosis."
