Interview in The Hot Tub … Tabitha Webb

Mummy and fashion designer, Tabitha Webb, is in awe of her sister and dreams of family time in South Africa - we caught up with her to discuss health, happiness, and summer fashion!

What’s your average day like?

Every day is different! Running a business and being a mum is by far the biggest challenge of my life. I try to get up and have breakfast with Betsey every morning and make sure I am home in the evening to read her a story and put her to bed.  However, I also try to keep a good balance, so some days I will work for 14 hours and other days I will stay at home and take Betsey for a long walk through the fields and to play pooh sticks! It is a good mix of the fashion world and the real world!

Do you have a role model?

Every working mother is a role model to me, but in particular my elder sister Merryn Somerset Webb. She manages two kids, being editor of a magazine, doing numerous TV appearances, and still has a great social life. She won’t tell me how she does it!

What’s the strangest thing that’s happened to you in your career so far?

I don’t know about strange but certainly the heady days of debauchery I used to spend in Hong Kong when I first started my career in fashion have left a lasting impression!  Now I produce everything in the UK and Europe so I am a lot more sensible and grown up!

What will you be wearing this spring/summer?

I am a big fan of pretty printed day dresses - it’s so great to wake up in the morning, throw a dress on, and have your outfit complete! Assuming you get the shoes right …

What’s been your proudest moment as a designer?

Launching my own label, Tabitha Webb, has been my proudest moment I think.  Then every time someone wears one of my dresses, especially on the red carpet when I feel a big twinge of excitement - I hope that feeling never goes.

What’s your idea of the perfect day of relaxation?

Reading the papers with a delicious latte to start the day, followed by a long walk in the countryside, then a deep tissue massage to relax my muscles, and finishing off with a glass of red wine and a yummy supper cooked by someone else.  Preferably all of this should be in the sunshine or the snowy mountains!

Do you have a favourite spa treatment?

It has to be a facial. I just love them. Not only are they incredibly relaxing and make me fall asleep, but there is nothing like the way your skin glows after a facial!

When do you feel at your happiest?

When I am on the beach in South Africa with my husband and my daughter.

Complete this sentence: A stylish woman is … a woman who is completely confident in her own skin and doesn’t need the reassurance of others to know she looks good.
