Spabreaks.com is one of 37 National Winners selected from 250 of the Ones To Watch in United Kingdom that will now be attending the final international ceremony, event and judging in Warsaw in December.
The European Business Awards is one of the most prestigious accolades a company can receive, as well as one of the world’s largest cross-industry, cross border business competitions. Since 2007, they have been rewarding innovators, success stories and the ethical entrepreneurs in European business.
The awards exist because creators believe that business has a key role to play in tackling the major issues faced by Europe and the world; unemployment, climate change, ongoing conflicts and widespread poverty. As a result, the rewards look to support organisations that can show business success alongside strong corporate social responsibility standards. Or as they put it, those who: “look beyond their own desks, lobbies, office blocks and local communities and make a difference to society on an international level.”
At Spabreaks.com these ideals are reflected in our vision for the spa industry as a whole, as well as practising what we preach in our own offices. Spabreaks.com launched in 2008 and is now Europe’s largest spa booking agency, providing a wide variety of spa days and breaks for all occasions. We have also encouraged spas to offer a wide variety of packages that open up the spa industry to anyone who may have previously been or felt marginalised, especially anybody being treated for cancer.
Meanwhile, at our offices we aim to supporting our team in a positive working environment. For example, in 2017 we reduced the working day by 30 minutes and also extended holidays to 25 days as standard. Team members regularly visit spas to get a throrough understanding of the product they work with as well as to enjoy the experiences first hand. The team is supported in terms of general wellbeing, including finance and health issues, and our founder Abi has personally mentored a number of women within the team who have gone on to start their own businesses.
In 2018 the company created more in-office opportunities for wellbeing including chair massage, wellness educational talks and yoga.
