Post-pandemic wellness: How spa breaks became part of regular self-care
How more facets of holistic wellbeing have been introduced to both the spa environment, and our everyday lives, since 2020.
Read full postSome spa experiences are about the facilities, while others focus more on the treatments themselves. University Arms in Cambridge is all about luxury pampering - that means no pools and saunas, but a holistic experience that makes you feel totally spoiled. Here's what you need to know...
As the name suggests, University Arms draws much of its heritage and inspiration from the famous University of Cambridge. In the heart of the scholastic city, the property is Edwardian and it has hospitality heritage dating to 1834. However, having been refurbished in 2018, it also now offers the best of all modern comforts alongside its traditional style. Luxury details range from tiered chandeliers to bespoke furnishings - it's got all the hallmarks of a wonderfully romantic getaway.
Cambridge is full of beautiful places to eat and drink, but University Arms has its own offering to bring to the proverbial table. Parker's Tavern is their quintessentially English brasserie restaurant. In surroundings that are at once whimsical and sophisticated, they serve regional ingredients from field, fen and England's seas, whether you're in the mood for Norfolk fruits de mer or Spaghetti Bolognese.
The spa is a boutique experience that's all about the treatments. There are two treatment rooms and they offer a carefully curated menu of treatments to support mind, body and soul. The emphasis is very much on indulgence, so after you have your Ultimate Aromatherapy Experience or Immune Support body treatment, we recommend booking afternoon tea to continue the decadent vibes.
University Arms is in pride of place for exploring this fantastic city. Wake to views over Parker’s Piece (a 25-acre public garden), historic Regent Street, and the hotel’s inner courtyard. Then head out to explore, whether you fancy roaming round the shops, punting on the River Cam, exploring the towering Gothic King's College Chapel, or visiting the many museums.
