Read full postA treatment that was popularised in Japan and that's been gaining traction all over the world thanks to social media, The Abbey Hotel is the only spa in the UK currently offering the Japanese Head Spa treatment.
The Japanese Head Spa treatment was first formalised in the later half of the 20th-century in Japan. As with many things however, it's being discovered by a new generation of wellness fans, thanks to the power of TikTok, and this is the only spa in the UK where it's currently available.
Now available from the team at the beautiful Abbey Hotel in Worcestershire, the renaissance of this holistic healing experience is welcomed by all who know the power of a good head massage, and can only imagine the joys of supercharging those benefits. Nourishing and cleansing for the scalp and hair, the Japanese Head Spa treatment is a bit like a facial for your scalp, helping to strengthen hair follicles, stimulate blood flow and reduce tension.
It starts by using a scalp analysis to identify problematic areas or scalp types. That process allows your therapist to select specialised shampoos, conditioners, essential oils and hair masks to suit your needs. They then use a variety of Japanese and Indian head massage techniques, working with acupressure points to send you into a deep state of relaxation. The treatment then finishes with a post scalp analysis so you can see the difference in scalp health. At The Abbey Hotel, they recommend having the treatment every four to eight weeks for a deep cleanse to maintain a healthy, clean scalp.
The Abbey Hotel is now one of the few spas in the UK offering the Japanese Head Spa treatment, and in addition to enjoying this mindful, unique experience there's a wealth of other reasons to visit on a spa day or break.
The four-star spa hotel in Redditch is warm and welcoming, complete with a health club enjoying facilities ranging from a 15-metre indoor pool complete with pool-side hot tub, to modern steam room and sauna. They also offer a collection of therapies from ELEMIS, from scrubs to couture facials.
