Read full postA new addition to Blythswood Square Spa’s treatment repertoire, the Elemis Urban Cleanse is a facial specifically designed for men …
What exactly is the Elemis Urban Cleanse?
It’s a 55 minute facial for men, which starts with a consultation about your skin type and problems you want to target, and where the therapist explains the treatment. It then begins with a deep cleansing wash, followed by an energising skin rub. This is followed with a post-shave recovery mask, and a facial massage, before finishing with a skin soothing shave oil.
Where does it come from?
It is a treatment from Elemis which uses active plant ingredients and natural products that are paraben free. They are fast acting and kind to the skin.
What is it supposed to do?
It’s designed to target ingrown hairs, remove impurities, and decongest the skin. It is particularly good for men who work in the city where there is a lot of pollution and skin can become dry.
Is there anything you do to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment?
To add a bit of pampering we include a scalp and neck massage when the mask is working.
Is there anything you recommend clients to do pre or post-treatment to get the most out of it?
We always recommend spending time in the steam room before this treatment because it opens up the pores which means the products penetrate a lot deeper and act faster. We also advise not to shave on the day you are having the facial; the evening before is ideal to avoid irritation.
Is there anyone you particularly recommend the treatment for?
It is definitely designed for businessmen and people who live in the city, but it’s good for all men and is a great opportunity to learn a bit more about skincare. We always find that men like the advice we are able to give rather than just picking products at random in a shop.
Is there anyone who shouldn’t have this treatment and why?
It’s designed for all skin types; the only time there is a problem is if you have a serious and specific skin problem in the facial area.
