This charming Marriott hotel has two immediately obviously elements in its favour - its architectural beauty and the prettiness of its surroundings. The hotel’s history dates back to 1260, giving it an unparalleled sense of intrigue and gravitas. Meanwhile, it’s set amongst 300 acres of grounds with the Derbyshire countryside beyond, which there’s a range of activities ranging from hiking to horse riding.
The nearby Peak District National Park delights visiting walkers, and in addition there’s an array of historic attractions and activities close by. Amongst them, Chatsworth House, the seat of the Duke of Devonshire, is a treat, while Donington Park Circuit is one of the world’s foremost race circuits, Denby Pottery showcases truly unique and special pieces handmade in the UK and the National Trust’s Calke Abbey provides plenty of entertainment.
For golfers visiting the hotel, there are two 18-hole golf courses within the grounds. That includes their Championship Priory Course which offers challenging play, a historical setting and is surrounded by that aforementioned remarkable natural beauty.
Children are welcome at the hotel and to use the pool and facilities - with children's pool times available. There is also a children’s pool and nearby activities which include Alton Towers and the National Space Centre.
The spa has therapists who are trained in oncology massage and treatments, allowing them to welcome anyone living with, being treated for or recovering from cancer. As a result, they are Accredited by the SATCC and part of the Spabreaks.com Safe Hands for Cancer Collection.
