A picturesque Manor House in the Warwickshire countryside, Macdonald Alveston Manor Hotel has everything you could want from a spa hotel, from a warm welcome to beautiful grounds and a range of well-being facilities. Here are just five of the reasons we love it.
Macdonald Alveston Manor Hotel's history dates back to the 16th century, but it was further developed during the 17th and 18th centuries into the grand property it is today. As a result, it has beautiful architectural features that tell the story of its past, such as timbered beams, wood panelling and beautiful stained glass. Rumour has it that the first performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream took place outdoors in a location that is now part of the hotel’s grounds.
Two minutes from the glorious River Avon and a footbridge away from one of England’s most famous market towns, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Macdonald Alveston Manor Hotel is in a glorious location. The red brick manor house is surrounded by magnificent grounds and gardens, setting the scene for a tranquil retreat.
This is a hotel that certainly knows how to make you feel at home, not least by providing a good meal. There are two excellent restaurants: the Manor Restaurant, which is all about fine dining, and the less formal Blue Lounge for tasty snacks. Fresh ingredients and a warm atmosphere are what you can expect, not to mention an excellent afternoon tea.
The spa at Macdonald Alveston Manor is a contemporary addition, set within the gardens of the hotel. The design nods to many of the main property's 16th-century features, but inside it's all about modern wellness. There's an 18-metre pool, a gym, sauna and a steam room, and treatments ranging from holistic Elemis therapies to non-surgical CACI facials.
Yes, you can visit Macdonald Alveston Manor Hotel for a day or a night, but why not make it two so you can really make the most of it? In part, that's because the location is magical, with Shakespeare's country right on your doorstep and top attractions ranging from the Bard's birthplace to Anne Hathaway’s cottage within walking distance of the hotel.
