The hotel takes its name from the 12th-century bridge crossing the nearby River Nidd, and is a nod to its former guise as a coaching station for stagecoaches in the 1800s. Even the spa takes inspiration from the past, and the nearby spa town, Harrogate, famed for its reputedly healing ‘chalybeate’ or iron infused waters discovered in the 16th-century.
