What's the meaning of wellness and wellbeing?
It's something we're all living with and talking about all the time... but what does it really mean, to you, to me and to Spabreaks.com?
Read full postIt’s a three hour spa experience in total. You have full access to the thermal suite with a therapy sauna, experience shower, Himalayan salt steam room, hot beds and loungers. The mud rasul itself is a half hour DIY treatment.
You’re given a salt scrub that you apply yourself, and we change it seasonally. This year we have chosen a Pina Colada mud for an energising spring feeling. You go through to the rasul chamber, which is for a minimum of two people and maximum of four, and you apply the mud.
You leave it on for half an hour in the rasul, which starts as a dry heat so the mud almost bakes onto the skin, and after 10 minutes it changes to a steam room and the mud loosens so you can move it around and give the skin a good scrub. Towards the end of the experience, a shower comes on from the ceiling and washes all the mud off.
The rasul experience has a history from from Arabia or Turkey - different countries have their own variations, but the premise remains the same; by heating the skin it opens up the pores and helps it to absorb the products. The Pina Colada fragrance however was chosen by Spa Suites specifically for spring - it’s brightening, it’s fun and it’s perfect for groups as it’s a treatment for up to four people. It’s a lovely idea to combine it with a girls’ break including cocktails afterwards in the bistro at lunch.
A scrub will exfoliate the skin and remove all dead skin cells, while the mud hydrates the skin. We also have a less fragranced mud for the face that’s also really hydrating and can also be used on more sensitive skin.
We recommend that on arrival you do all the facility access first and finish with the rasul because after you have applied all the rubs and scrubs your skin is like silk, so you don’t want to wash off all those beautiful products and dehydrate the skin again.
We do retail scrubs at the spa that mean you can take some of the experience home. It’s not the exact one used in the rasul, but we have a peppermint scrub and a wild rose scrub. They’re two very different fragrances for use depending on whether you want something invigorating or relaxing.
Couples love the rasul, but we definitely recommend the Pina Colada fragrance for groups of friends and hen parties - it’s really fun and uplifting.
The treatment is not suitable during pregnancy because of the heat, and we are also an over 18 only spa.
The rasul can be added on to any spa package, price varies depending on group numbers.
