Winter skincare and beauty tips for bonfire night

Sparks are flying, hip flasks are brimming and the night sky is alight with colour, but out in the winter chill, don’t forget a to give your skin a little love! Here are our top winter skincare and beauty tips to keep you glowing on bonfire night…

Exfoliate for winter skincare

Winter is a devil for dry skin, so it’s time to work a semi regular exfoliation into your skincare routine. Obviously if you want to kick start the process with a full facial then all the better. How often you exfoliate will depend on the product you use, but keep an eye out for one that’s high quality and doesn’t use plastic microbeads (very very bad for the environment). Try Dr Organic’s Rose Otto Face Scrub complete with natural micro particles - it smells amazing.

Winter skincare for your lips

Lips often get neglected as just another part of your face, but they deserve treatment in their own right. Of course the time when we most notice this is when they start to get chapped in the cold. Don’t let it get that far! Invest in a good lip balm and get into the habit of applying a couple of times a day as part of your beauty routine. A personal favourite is from Kiehl’s, which now comes in an array of rather delectable flavours.

Hydrate as part of a winter skincare routine

Nothing works as well when it comes to beauty as working from the inside out. Drink lots of water (you can even do it the spa way and add a few slices of cucumber to taste). If you’re anything like us, when the weather gets cold you just want to hug a mug of tea, but instead of reaching for the caffeine experiment with a few caffeine free herbal infusions. It will help keep dry skin at bay on those chilly bonfire nights.

Spare a thought for your hands

After your feet, your hands are probably one of the most neglected body parts when it comes to beauty. But you know what, they need love too! The wonder that is coconut oil makes for a great all round moisturiser that can be used on your hands. However, one of the simplest things to do is remember to wear gloves when you go out in the chill. The thin skin on your hands is susceptible to drying out with all the temperature changes, so give them a break!

Don’t forget to have a little fun

Your best beauty asset is your smile. So for all the healthy eating and drinking in the world, make sure you have fun on bonfire night. Drink that hot chocolate, eat those toasted marshmallows and cuddle up to family and friends.
