The most highly coveted trophy in women's professional golf
This week sees the start of The Solheim Cup. Held every two years, the event has grown into the most highly coveted trophy in women's professional golf team competition, and for the golfers amongst us it's a little inspiration for that next golf and spa break.
This year, the event is being held between 18th and 24th September at Finca Cortesin in the heart of the Costa del Sol in Andalucía. The world-renowned golfing destination has previously staging three Volvo World Match Play Championship’s as well as regularly featuring in the top five list of ‘best courses’ in Spain by Golf World and Golf Digest magazines.
The 18-hole championship course has been designed to incorporate the area’s original flora and fauna and is reputed to have the best greens in Southern Spain. Players will compete against a Mediterranean backdrop, framed by a balance between 20 varieties of flora, the typical regional forest and the perfectly-manicured Bermuda grass.
The European team will be lead by Captain Suzann Pettersen and Vice Captains Anna Nordqvist, Laura Davies and Caroline Martens, while the US team is lead by Captain Stacy Lewis and Vice Captains Angela Stanford, Morgan Pressel and Natalie Gulbis. We wish you luck!
