Where to go for a golf and spa experience with multiple courses

Sometimes one golf course just isn't enough. Perhaps you're a pro and you want plenty of opportunity to challenge yourself during your weekend away. Maybe you're an enthusiastic beginner and you want to try your hand across the greens. These are the spa hotels with multiple golf courses and golf facilities on site.

Championship golf at The Belfry, Birmingham

There are three famous golf courses at The Belfry, a hotel that's famous for its heritage as well as its courses. It has hosted the Ryder Cup four times and has state-of-the-art golfing facilities.

The three courses include:

  • The Brabazon: Think 18 holes of majestic fairways and carpet-smooth greens where you can walk in the footsteps of golfing legends - Seve’s historic drive onto the 10th green, Sam Torrance’s famous putt that won the 1985 Ryder Cup match for the European Team or Christie O’Connor Jr S belligerent two iron across the lake at the 18th.
  • The PGA National: A Par 72 course recognised by the PGA as a world-class tournament course, and the only PGA golf course in England.

A countryside spa retreat complete with contemporary facilities, design and an award-winning restaurant, there are two championship golf courses at East Sussex National.

  • The East Course: This is a 7,081 yard stadium layout, designed for tournament play.
  • The West Course: The par 72 course meanders through ancient oak trees, alongside quiet pools, and rippling streams.

Coastal courses at St Mellion Estate, Cornwall

A four-star hotel amidst the beauty of the Cornish coast, St Mellion Estate offers tranquillity, self-catered cottages, and the best of West Country food and drink. Luxury golf and spa at Trump Turnberry, Ayrshire

Known for its luxury hotel and impressive, purpose-built spa, Trump Turnberry sits in a fantastic location overlooking the Irish Sea. Instantly relaxing and guaranteed to make you feel spoiled, it's also famous when it comes to golf. It was ranked one of Golf Digest's "World's 100 Greatest Golf Courses", and has been home to four Open Championships.   • Ailsa: This is its most famous course, named for the third Marquess of Ailsa, who owned the land on which it was built, and known for its tough opening holes and is demanding for even the most skilled golfers.
  • King Robert the Bruce: Having opened in 2017, this course is inspired by the name and spirit of the first king of Scotland and offers spectacular views of Turnberry’s coastline, castle ruins and lighthouse.
  • Arran: This is their nine-hole course, which has all the challenges of the world famous Ailsa, and is aimed at every standard of golfer, from the novice to the advanced player.

Golf in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty at Stoke by Nayland, Colchester

Set in the countryside near Colchester, Stoke by Nayland is surrounded by 300 acres of grounds and offers a secluded, relaxed retreat for spa enthusiasts and golfers of all levels. The hotel is four-star and ultra modern, The Peake Spa has a Mediterranean theme and features a range of facilities including 12 therapy rooms as well as a Rasul mud therapy chamber and a Hammam (making it great for groups), and the award-winning restaurant looks out over the 18th green.

In addition, there are two championship golf courses, which have played host to major national and international championships such as the PGA Europro Tour, European Senior Tour PGA Seniors Championships, European Challenge Tour (The English Challenge) and the Ladies European Tour Access Series.

  • The Gainsborough: Named for the local artist, Thomas Gainsborough, this course measures over 7,000 yards with a par of 71. It also has four substantial lakes that challenge the skills of golfers of all abilities.
  • The Constable: Taking its name from another famous local artist, John Constable, this course is set amongst wooded plantations with several natural water hazards and measures 6,544 yards with a par of 72.
