Read full postFew places manage to straddle heritage architecture, cultural depth and contemporary style quite as well as Hope Street Hotel. A new addition to the Spabreaks.com collection, this luxury Liverpool spa hotel is the next big thing in wellness that you absolutely need to know about.
Hope Street Hotel is in Liverpool’s Georgian Quarter, which is known for its array of architectural beauty and culture. There are two exquisite cathedrals, cobbled streets, townhouses, traditional pubs and glorious restaurants as well as cultural venues like the Philharmonic Pub - an ornate bar split into a host of tiny musical themed rooms, where Sir Paul McCartney played a secret show in 2018. All of that and more is on your doorstep at this hotel.
In keeping with the surrounding area, the hotel itself is stylish both inside and out. The building itself has an 1860s Venetian palazzo facade in pink Cheshire brick complete with iron pillars and pitch pine beams. Inside, they fuse the historic features with contemporary updates - bespoke cherry and walnut furniture, solid oak and birch, alongside crisp white linens, exposed brick and vast windows where the property has been updated. It's immaculate.
Everything about this hotel is deeply seductive. There's a sensuality to the design, a discretion to the layout, and a depth to the details that instantly makes you want to spoil your partner by bringing them here for a weekend of indulgence. To really take things to new heights, we suggest the Rooftop Suites which boast some of the best views in the city complete with a terrace and spa baths for two.
The former warehouse of a coach and carriage builders, Hope Street Hotel wears its history on its sleeve, naming its popular restaurant The London Carriage Works - a term found carved in the stone lintel above the front door during the initial renovation. The place is recommended whether you're staying at the hotel or not, serving up British fare and a great atmosphere, after which you can head to the TLCW bar.
The spa at Hope Street Hotel is a delicious little secret all of its own. Surprisingly spacious for an urban retreat, it's thermal journey is at its heart, complete with carefully designed features such as a 15-metre pool with underwater music, a courtyard vitality pool, experience showers complete with lights, music and fragrance, as well as a herbal sauna, Himalayan salt sauna, aroma steam room, tepidarium with heated beds. There's also a gym and studio classes. The experience is complete with spa treatments from Swedish skincare brand REN as well as Temple Spa and Leighton Denny for nail care.
