A 200-acre privately owned estate, Middleton Lodge is rooted in history but has all the bells and whistles you would expect from a contemporary hotel and spa. More like a small village than a hotel, guests can stay either in the 30-bedroom lodge, one of two self-catered cottages or shepherd's huts within the grounds. All are elegant and stylish - perfect for a romantic retreat or a getaway with friends.
There are two restaurants at the hotel - both equally joyful. The Coach House is relaxed and rustic, serving breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner using ingredients from the kitchen garden. Forge, on the other hand, is a rather special tasting experience created by Head Chef, Jake Jones, available from Thursday to Sunday evenings.
The Forest Spa is a really special place to spend time. The purpose-built retreat sits within the grounds of Middleton Lodge, and is entirely contemporary but nods to the heritage of the estate. A barn-style building, it invites you to spend time chattering away or reading a good book with the doors wide open or by the log burner.
There's a secluded outdoor swimming pool and hot tub, a relaxation room, sauna, steam room and a relaxation room to enjoy, and then make sure you have a treatment or two. There are four therapy rooms including a dual suite, and therapists use a combination of Aromatherapy Associates and VOYA products in their face and body therapies. There's an emphasis on connecting with the natural world, but in the fanciest way possible.
