Read full postFor anyone going through cancer treatment, a spa break can offer a sense of positive wellbeing and restoration for the mind and body while it’s going through so much. It can also be a welcome opportunity to spend time dedicated to loved ones, away from the clinical setting of treatment and hospital. However, finding a spa experience that is both safe and meaningful whilst undergoing cancer treatment hasn’t always been straight forward. Now, thanks to Safe Hands for Cancer, the process of finding a spa that’s right for you is simple, meaning you can focus on the joy of a spa break and not on the red tape caused by cancer. Here, we talk about Celtic Manor and what makes it so special as well as safe…
From the three golf courses to the adventure playground of activities, this is a destination that’s fantastic for groups and families. Swing through the trees at Forest Jump - a combination of high and low rope courses, bridges, walkways, and challenging obstacles plus a daring pole climbing challenge for kids of all ages. Play adventure golf, or perhaps Laser Combat is more your thing - an exhilarating test of skill, nerve and bravery using high-tech laser guns. There’s also archery, pitch and putt, fishing and rock climbing to name a few. That’s all before you get to the spacious spa.
It might be family friendly but Celtic Manor definitely doesn’t hold back on luxury and style. Aside from the decadent accommodation, the beautiful Forum spa is the luxurious heartbeat of the resort. With Elemis treatments, saunas, steam rooms, spa baths and a relaxation pool overlooking the Rooftop Garden, there’s much to enjoy. In particular, guests are fans of the Elemis Herbal Steam - a chamber where small lights mimic the constellations.
Despite only being 45 minutes from Cardiff, the hotel is surrounded by 1400 acres of park land and the Usk Valley. Much of that is made up by the three celebrated golf courses (one of which was home to the Ryder Cup), and that in turn means you can guarantee it will always be picture perfect!
Food is also a big deal here, with a range of restaurants to choose from. For example, The Olive Tree is invariably the dining domain of spa goers, Steak on Six is a soy high experience, and Mulberry Bar with its sumptuous surroundings and decadent atmosphere is a hidden gem and the perfect place for an evening hideaway or pre-dinner cocktail.
The thing about Celtic Manor is that things are not only beautiful, but they are attentively done and they are meaningful. The service is well considered and aims to welcome everyone. That extends to the spa, which has always made a point of having highly trained therapists on their team. As such, they have trained therapists who can adapt treatments for cancer patients to make sure they are safe but also nurturing when you need it the most. As such, they are accredited by the SATCC and are part of the Spabreaks.com Safe Hands for Cancer Collection, so they are able to welcome cancer patients living with or beyond cancer and offers a number of specialist trained therapists.
