Preferably with a little massage and really nice smells thrown in for good measure. The purpose of it is largely up to you - anti-ageing, moisturising, relaxing… you get the idea, but mainly it’s a really, really nice way to spend time.
Italian word for ‘mud’ - everything always sounds better in Italian. It’s a mineralized mud mixed with oil or water and applied to the body as a heat pack. Great for detox, stimulating circulation and soothing muscles.

Not as scary as it sounds. This does exactly what it says on the tin - a fitness instructor puts you through your paces to evaluate aerobic capacity, flexibility and strength, heart rate, blood pressure and body composition and from there you can decide what you want to do about it.
The cold part of the thermal experience in spas. Otherwise known as a plunge pool, it’s designed to close the pores after you have spent time in the caldarium and tepidarium… you can thank the Romans for this particular health recommendation.
Head to toe, front and back, full body treatment, usually using your chosen aromatherapy oil and an utter treat for the senses. Yes there will probably be paper knickers involved, but they’re not so bad once you get used to them.

A relaxing treatment where you are isolated in warm water in an enclosed tank for a set period of time to relax, unwind, and basically float all your problems away. Good for putting the mind to rest and helping with anxiety, pain, swelling, insomnia and jetlag. Generally each spa will put their own twist on this treatment.
