Read full postWhen the sun shines we feel more positive, we tend to feel healthier and our skin glows. As we look forward to sunnier months, how we can look after our skin so we can maintain a healthy glow for as long as possible? Here, spa therapists from Ringwood Hall Hotel and Spa share their top tips for summer skincare…
Top tip: Even if you’re not going overseas (as many aren’t this year), start as you mean to go on with summer skincare. Give your skin a chance to breathe by using non-comedogenic beauty products which are designed not to clog pores (which can lead to irritation and blemishes). This is especially important in the summer when hot and humid weather leads to sweat, which takes a longer time to evaporate off your skin, and combining that with oily products isn’t exactly a party for your pores.
Top treatment: Ringwood Hall Hotel and Spa’s Sublime Rhythm, an invigorating treatment to stimulate the skin and heighten the senses. This will remove dead skin cells to help promote an even tan that will last much longer after your return home. The Breath of Clarity mud wrap will ease tension in the muscles and start your holiday perfectly, finally the luxurious body soufflé that is applied at the end of the treatment will leave your skin feeling silky soft, supple and toned.
Top tip: Eat lots of melon! Cantaloupe is the melon of choice for beautiful summer skin. The sweet fruit is rich in antioxidants and delivers a unique hydration to the skin, resulting in a radiant complexion.
Top product: While you’re on holiday you may well not have spa access, but have no fear, a little DIY skincare therapy is all you need. For summer, we recommend Lola’s Apothecary’s Delicate Romance Body Soufflé. This beautiful moisturiser contains powerful healing rose essential oils that will calm and soothe the skin after a full day in the sun. Use sparingly as your after sun as a little goes a long long way. The gentle fragrance and silky texture will team perfectly with that summer dress for a lovely holiday evening. Continue to use at home when you return to prolong that summer glow.
Top tip: Dark splotches on the forehead, cheeks and upper lip (also known as melasma) make their peak appearance in summer. Apply Elemis Dark Spot Corrector (£37.50.to help minimise the appearance.
Top treatment: Back to work after your summer escape and it’s back to city pollution that dull’s the skin. To help keep pollution at bay, try Ringwood Hall Hotel and Spa’s Urban Shield Facial. The treatment allows you to step away from city life and the stresses that go with it, and back to your holiday mindset for a little while. This facial will combat the free radicals in air pollution that cause damage to our skin, after a thorough cleanse and exfoliation, a plumping and toning hands-on massage will help to bring fresh blood and nutrients to the skin’s surface. The Urban Shield serum is then applied underneath an algae mask to boost the skin’s hyaluronic acid levels for optimum hydration. The protective Skin Drink Fluid Moisturiser from Ytsara is then recommended for daily use to prolong the effects of the facial.
