Spa tips for treating rosacea

What is rosacea and can skincare products help?

Rosacea is a common skincare problem, but it can feel like a challenge to deal with. As with any skin condition, it can upset those with it. Here, Hayley from skincare brand Pevonia, explains what rosacea is and how to help.

What is rosacea?

Rosacea is a common skin condition but it still isn’t very well understood. It affects mainly the face where initially, symptoms begin with facial flushing. People with rosacea may also notice spots and persistent redness within their skin. Small blood vessels in the skin can become visible, and in the most severe cases the skin can thicken and enlarge, usually on and around the nose and the eyes can become watery and/or irritated.

Can rosacea be treated?

There is no cure for rosacea, but a range of treatments are available that can help to control the symptoms of the condition. With regular treatments along with the use of home care products, the condition can be more easily controlled.

Are there any lifestyle factors that can help with rosacea?

Lifestyle changes can be considered as there can be many triggers that can exacerbate rosacea symptoms. These include hormonal changes, venous pressure, nervous disorders, stress, climate changes (using extreme water temperatures), excess alcohol intake, consuming hot and spicy foods, exposure to extreme external factors such as heat, cold, wind and sun (continuous exposure to UVA/UVB rays).

Which Pevonia skincare products do you recommend?

Without doubt it would be our award-winning RS2 line. It is unique to Pevonia and designed specifically to treat Rosacea and Acne Rosacea but also the symptoms of vascular skin.

All the products in the Pevonia RS2 line should be used together, morning and evening. The products are the:

  • RS Gentle Cleanser
  • RS2 Gentle Lotion
  • RS2 Concentrate a
  • RS2 Care Cream

Using this specialised line, the symptoms of rosacea can be controlled and dramatically improved.

How do they work?

Each product contains green tea, olibanum and French rose essential oil.

  • Green tea helps to heal and desensitise the skin.
  • Anti-bacterial olibanum (frankincense) soothes and calms.
  • French rose essential oil reduces vascular flushing and has a beautiful scent.

The results we see after clients have been using this line include less sensitive skin type, redness is diffused, skin is soothed and deeply decongested, microcirculation improved and general skin health repaired, strengthened and protected.

Which spa treatments would you recommend?

We have an award-winning RS2 Facial, which has been proven to deliver exceptional physical results to those who suffer from severe sensitivity, broken capillaries, rosacea and acne Rosacea.

The facial consists of a wonderful alleviating thermal clay mask, providing soothing relief to dilated capillaries, congestion, blotchiness, and irritability. We use highly-comforting and healing ingredients such as rose, green tea, chamomile and liquorice, which when used together, properly decongest and calm the affected skin for an even, healthy appearance. The results really do speak for themselves!
