Read full postA historic hotel and spa, Fawsley Hall is a stylish and restful retreat combining heritage, hospitality, and a modern, boutique spa. Here's what makes it an ideal getaway destination.
Fawsley Hall Hotel and Spa is an exquisite, four-star country house hotel on a site that's said to date back to the seventh century, with the land hunted by royals from the nearby Anglo Saxon palace at Weedon. The property as we see it today was developed over time, with the earliest part being the Tudor South Wing, built in the early 16th century and now predominantly housing the restaurant.
Fawsley Hall's enduring reputation for hospitality has seen it host esteemed guests across the centuries. Rooms and suites straddle the line between modern charm and historic grandeur, with 60 rooms available across the Tudor, Georgian and Victorian wings. For special occasions, it's hard to beat the Master Suite on the first floor, which is named for Queen Elizabeth I, who stayed here for the final time in 1575, and features a soaring roof, delicately carved fireplace and sumptuous four poster bed.
Fawsley Hall Hotel and Spa is a place that's designed for luxuriating in every experience, and food and drink are an intrinsic part of that. The Cedar Restaurant has two AA Rosettes for its menu of British classics, served under an original beamed ceiling, exposed brickwork and stone fireplace.
Then there’s the Tudor Great Hall - one of the crowning experiences of a stay at Fawsley Hall, commissioned by Sir Edmund Knightley in 1537, it's an awe-inspiring location for afternoon tea or evening cocktails.
Topping it all off is the Tudor Bar, which was originally the estate’s brew house. Today it's where a roaring log fire awaits, leading to a central courtyard and terrace, offering space for light lunches, a cup of coffee, or space to read a good book in peace.
Surrounded by formal gardens and parkland that were designed by the renowned architect Capability Brown in the 1760s, Fawsley Hall offers a sense of rest and relaxation, whether you're here for a spa day or a weekend retreat.
The views set the scene for a tranquil getaway, as well as inviting you to explore 2,000 acres of beautiful countryside with glittering lakes and streams on a series of walking routes that the hotel can readily provide maps for.
For those who wish to venture outside the estate, there's a world of popular local attractions to enjoy as well. The National Trust’s tranquil Canons Ashby Manor House is close by, as is the magnificent Althorp Estate. Bicester Village, Blenheim Palace, and Waddesdon Manor are also just a short car ride away.
The Spa at Fawsley Hall is an award-winning experience offering contemporary style and every facility you could ask for. There's a gym featuring cutting-edge equipment, an exquisite indoor pool, sauna and steam rooms, as well as two additional heat experiences; a Himalayan salt sauna and a herbal aromatic heat experience.
Outside, the journey continues, with an open-air hydro pool, tranquil spa garden, and a tennis court overlooking the lakes. There's also plenty of space to lounge both inside and out, and a Spatisserie to ensure you remain sated and hydrated.
Alongside the wellbeing facilities, the spa has six treatment rooms, and a deep relaxation area. Therapies have been carefully considered, using ELEMIS and [COMFORT ZONE] products in a collection of holistic face and body treatments.
