Golf doesn't begin and end on the course. Whether you want to practise your swing or learn the game, golf facilities with driving ranges and practise courses are an excellent option.
For those who want to try golf for the first time, spa and golf destinations with practise facilities are a particularly great idea because they have the kit and the space to give it a go without having to invest in everything before you try your hand.
Here are some of our favourite golf and spa destinations where practise makes perfect.
Whittlebury Hall is well known for its vast spa as well as the scale of the property. A great destination for groups of friends, there's space and options for everyone to enjoy. For example, the spa's thermal suite features a full range of experiences, and there are 23 treatment rooms including a hammam chamber and rasul room to enjoy afterwards.
When it comes to golf, the Northamptonshire destination is no less well-equipped. They have a 36-hole, championship golf course, an award-winning clubhouse and they are an official Callaway Performance Center (CPC), which means you can have a custom golf club fitting.
In addition, they have a two-tier, 300 yard long driving range, and the best short game facility in the county. Their practise facilities also include a TOPTRACER RANGE, a digital, interactive and social experience with real-time data so you can compete, practise and understand your game better.
And yes, there's also a pro shop, so you can buy all the gear if you choose.
A sweeping resort full of wonderful wellbeing and hospitality experiences, The Vale Resort in Wales is surrounded by 650 acres of countryside, offers four-star service and has a purpose-built spa and leisure experience. Guests can wind down in carefully considered relaxation zones, enjoy therapies in 19 treatment rooms using Temple Spa and Clarins product lines, as well as their own Maychang Halo skincare collection using Welsh sea salt.
When it comes to golf, they are no less generous with their offering. They have two PGA Championship courses within the resort, as well as coaching facilities that include a 16-bay driving range, three practise putting greens, short game practise area and club custom-fit centre. Golf lessons are led by experienced PGA golf coaching professionals, and for those who really want to take their game up a notch, they have cutting-edge swing and ball flight analysis technology.
Enveloped in 175 acres of Worcestershire countryside south of Birmingham, The Abbey Hotel is a relaxed and welcoming hotel where nothing is too much trouble. There's a real balance of leisure and wellbeing at this place, whether you want to spend your time working out and using the Power Plate and video gym technology or relaxing with a Dermalogica or ESPA treatment.
In terms of golf, the hotel is surrounded by its own 18-hole golf course, which was built in the late 1970s and has now matured into a fine championship standard parkland course. They are also known for having some of the best golfing facilities in the area, complete with a floodlit, two-storey driving range with fantastic outfield targets including three large artificial turf greens and rugby posts.
