Under the skin: what therapists say about Micro Peel Lotion

We all love that fresh feeling that our skin has after a good facial, but how can we get that kind of glow at home?

We all love that fresh feeling that our skin has after a good facial, but how can we get that kind of glow at home? When it comes to home skincare there are so many products on the market, each with an advocate, but what do the spa therapists say? In this our series Under the Skin, we ask spa therapists to talk about the products that they use and recommend. Here, Sarah Usher, Treatment Manager at Rockliffe Hall explains why she’s a fan of a micro peel lotion.

What is a micro peel lotion supposed to do?

A micro peel lotion is used to soften and smooth the skin. The version that I like is from Comfort Zone, it’s designed for daily use and it provides a gentle exfoliation for the skin, creating radiance and vitality.

How effective is it?

Thanks to the combination of Alpha Hydroxy Acids and Polyhydroxy Acids it is very effective. In efficacy tests, it showed:

  • 95% agree the skin is effectively prepared for the following product
  • 95% agree the skin feels soft and smoothed
  • 90% agree the product has a pore refining action
  • 90% agree the product brings radiance to dull skin

Who is it recommended for/when should you start using it?

It’s recommended for anyone who is concerned with ageing, scar tissue or pigmentation - which can be common as you get older, especially amongst menopausal women.

How do you use the micro peel lotion?

It’s recommended for daily use, in both the morning and evening after cleansing, but before you apply your serum and moisturiser.

Is there anyone who shouldn't use it?

It’s not suitable for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. It’s also not recommended if you have any active skin conditions or broken skin, and if you have highly sensitive skin for any reason you may find it aggravating because of the Alpha Hydroxy Acids. It’s also recommended that you use a daily sunscreen when using this product.

Are there any treatments that you recommend using the micro peel lotion?

Absolutely! The Sublime Skin Facial from Comfort Zone is one of our favourite facials at Rockliffe Hall, designed to plump, lift and protect. It’s great for helping to counter fine lines and wrinkles. It uses Archi-liftTM technology combined with the renewing effects of the double peel to bring about an instant re-plumping effect. It’s ideal for mature skin with visible signs of ageing, stimulating cellular regeneration using an active lift massage technique and a microsonic facial device to smooth and tone.

The product itself is Comfort Zone’s Sublime Skin Micro Peel Lotion, or the Sublime Skin Peel Pads, which are pre-soaked cotton pads formulated with glycolic, lactic, and citric acids for a brighter complexion.

In a previous article on energy healing, Guildford Natural-light Wellness Spa explained the different types of energy healing that spa goers might expect to find. Amongst them is Kundalini, a creative  energy that’s held at the base of the spine and is good for releasing stress or providing focus. Here, they explain in greater detail, what Kundalini is and how they use it with healing touch in their unique massage.
