Read full postOctober is a month dedicated to menopause awareness, and the world of holistic wellbeing is stepping up. Here's how Gaia Spa at Boringdon Hall in Devon is supporting women experiencing hormonal change.
Initiated by the International Menopause Society (IMS) and World Health Organisation (WHO), Menopause Awareness Month (which includes World Menopause Day falling on 18th October), is dedicated to raising awareness, breaking taboos, promoting support, and empowering individuals when it comes to hormonal changes during menopause. Ultimately, it aims to help individuals to find the best support to suit them, and the holistic wellbeing sector has an important role to play.
In honour of Menopause Awareness Month this October, Gaia Spa Boringdon has unveiled GAIA MenoPAUSE - a nurturing new treatment and spa day experience designed specifically for women experiencing hormonal shifts during perimenopause or menopause.
Created to calm the mind, comfort the body, and soothe hormonally sensitive skin, GAIA MenoPAUSE is a new stand-alone treatment or full spa day aimed at supporting women during this natural life transition. The experience combines therapeutic touch, natural skincare, and expert-led techniques to ease physical symptoms and emotional stress, promoting a renewed sense of balance and wellbeing.
At the heart of this new offering is the GAIA MenoPAUSE Treatment, available in both 60- and 90-minute options. It begins with a deeply relaxing back, neck, and shoulder massage, designed to support the nervous system, reduce cortisol levels, and promote a profound sense of calm—particularly beneficial for managing the anxiety, irritability, and mood fluctuations often associated with menopause. Many women experience disrupted sleep during this life stage, and this restorative massage is intended to help regulate the nervous system and encourage more restful, rejuvenating sleep. In both treatment lengths, the massage is followed by a cooling jade facial massage, using jade tools that naturally retain a cold temperature. This helps calm inflammation, soothe skin sensitivity, and relieve the discomfort of hot flushes. Jade is also traditionally associated with harmony and balance—perfectly echoing the intention behind the MenoPAUSE treatment. For those choosing the 90-minute option, the journey continues with a balancing foot massage, which stimulates key reflexology points, helping to regulate mood and encourage emotional equilibrium. Throughout the ritual, GAIA’s Fitness Gel is also applied to specific areas of the body, helping to reduce swelling and inflammation, cool overheated skin, and ease discomfort from symptoms such as restless legs or hot flushes. The full treatment is a multi-sensory experience that aims to leave guests feeling reconnected, rebalanced, and nurtured from the inside out.
