Part of the Macdonald Hotels group, Elmers Court Hotel and Resort is a pretty hotel in a historic building that combines the beauty of natural surroundings and heritage with modern comforts and hospitality. Here are just five of the reasons we love it...
Macdonald Elmers Court Hotel and Resort is situated within the beauty of the New Forest National Park, which is, in itself, a wonderful place to visit. With views of the Solent coast, within the hotel grounds themselves you're surrounded by a tranquil world of your own complete with a Queen Mary Lawn and 23 acres of private grounds to explore.
Once a spy training school, Macdonald Elmers Court Hotel and Resort is a magnificent manor house that dates back to 1820. Originally known as The Elms, it was taken over by the Whitaker family in 1874. James Whitaker was an MP and a JP, and it was thought that The Elms was used as a local courthouse, hence the eventual name-change to Elmers Court. Its architecture still speaks to that illustrious past, and there are lots of original features that remain intact such as impressive fireplaces, Tudor-style gables, handsome carved panelling and huge, stone casement windows.
One of the lovely things about this hotel is that it welcomes everyone and that ethos extends to its different types of room and accommodation. You can stay in the traditional rooms in the main building, or choose from one, two and three bedroom apartments as well as two bedroom cottages in the grounds - perfect for groups, hen parties and families.
Wellbeing at Macdonald Elmers Court Hotel and Resort is built into the breadth of the estate, with squash court, two tennis courts, and an outdoor pool for summer months all part of the experience. The spa itself includes a gym, sauna, steam room, children’s pool, manicure and pedicure stations and relaxation room. Then, of course, there's the spa treatments, expertly from Elemis.
Like we said, the New Forest is a beautiful part of the world to visit with lots of things to see and do. Spend time enjoying river walks, local beaches and day trips to Bournemouth and the Isle of Wight, or head to the likes of Marwell Zoo, Beaulieu Motor Museum and Winchester Cathedral.
