Your next spa treatment: the ishga Detox Body Wrap

What it is, why it works and what you will get from this full body, total feel-good-factor treatment.

Combining the healing powers of Scottish skincare brand, ishga, and the expertise of Luxury Family Hotels' New Park Manor Hotel & Spa, Senior Therapist, Katie Leigh explains everything you need to know about ishga's Detox Body Wrap.

What is the Detox Body Wrap?

This highly detoxifying, 55-minute body wrap is an ishga treatment that we offer at all five of the Luxury Family Hotel properties. It is the perfect remedy to a winter cold or that post festive feeling.

It begins with a powerful, full body Hebridean sea salt and oil scrub, removing all those dead skin cells and leaving behind fantastically fresh and smooth skin. The purest seaweed gel is then applied before you're cocooned in warm towels. As the hydrating gel works its magic, we do a deeply relaxing scalp massage, which will really help you relax while the algae detoxifies, reduces cellulite and improves your energy levels.

At the end of the treatment we apply ishga's Invigorating Body Oil, which is powerfully anti-ageing and skin renewing.

What is the spa treatment designed to do?

It's a deeply detoxifying and invigorating treatment that will help reenergise, help create smoother skin, reduce cellulite and give you a fresh, glowing look by the time you leave. It's a positive kickstart for the new year.

Where does it come from?

The treatment is designed by ishga, who are a Scottish brand, known for their sustainable use of organic, Hebridean seaweed in their skincare products.

Who would really benefit from this spa treatment?

It's great for people with really dry skin, or anyone who's feeling sluggish during the winter months. It's also recommended if you have a slightly underachieve thyroid because of the iodine in the seaweed.

Is there anyone who shouldn't have this spa treatment?

This body wrap is not suitable during pregnancy and if you're having cancer treatment it's better to talk to us and we can offer a variation on the treatment that's gentler but just as nourishing for the skin. All the products are totally natural and vegan, there are no nasties, making it a really beautiful therapy to enjoy.

Is there anything you recommend doing before or after the treatment to make the most of it?

Beforehand we recommend enjoying the spa facilities to prepare the skin, and ideally avoiding alcohol pre treatment. To really take things up a notch, you could also add the Express Facial to the experience, while you have your scalp massage.

Afterwards, we would also suggest avoiding alcohol for 24 hours so as not to undo all that detox effort, and also try not to shower or use pools, saunas and steam rooms for the rest of the day so the products remain on the skin to work their magic.

You don't need to apply any other skincare products until the next day either - try to just relax and enjoy yourself!

New Park Manor will be reopening with a brand new spa facility featuring a state-of-the-art steam room, sauna and sanarium, UV filtered heated swimming pool and spa pool as well as two beautiful outdoor hot tubs overlooking the New Forest on 1st April 2024. Bookings now available.

The power of the robe

There seems to be a day for just about everything, and in many ways one could be forgiven for thinking that 22nd April - otherwise known as National Robe Day - is not high on the list of priorities for many... unless you're a Spabreaker...
