From Miami Beach vibes to being at one with nature, here are some of our favourite coastal spa breaks as part of our Summer Edit.
The NICI, Bournemouth
For a modern getaway with vintage Miami vibes, The NICI is a dreamy destination perched on Bournemouth’s West Cliff. An award-winning hotel with sea views and easy access to miles of sandy beaches, it's fun, flirty, romantic, welcoming and classy all at once. Inside, the five-star hotel gives coastal chic a whole new meaning, inviting you to enjoy life sunny side up in The South Beach Restaurant & Bar, from flat whites in the morning to cocktails at night.
THE NICI Spa is all about modern, luxury wellbeing, with state-of-the-art sanctuary facilities and unique experiences from the 18-metre indoor pool to the OTO CBD and OSKIA spa treatments. One of our favourite features for summer, however, is the 30-metre outdoor pool surrounded by loungers, pretty gardens and sea views.
Source Spa and Wellness at Saunton Sands Hotel, North Devon
Saunton Sands Hotel couldn't be closer to the beach if it tried. Nestled into the cliffs overlooking Saunton Sands itself, wake in the morning and stroll to the end of the garden for a walk along the beach. The unmistakable white hotel has been a favourite amongst families, friends and couples for years, warm and welcoming, and instantly relaxing. Enjoy views from all aspects of the hotel, taking in the North Devon Biosphere dunes and the crashing waves from dawn 'til dusk.
The spa continues the feel-good-factor - a three-floor haven of wellness. It includes, amongst many features, a marine-inspired thermal suite with a salt inhalation steam room and a marine vitality pool surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows and an Atlantic view. There are also two large swimming pools - one indoors and one outdoors (again, maximising the views). That's all before you get to the treatments - we recommend the double suite, which - you guessed it - also has views of the beach.
The Spa Hotel, Saltburn, North Yorkshire
This family-run spa hotel is in one of the most inspiring locations you could ask for, enjoying spectacular views of the famous vertical cliff, Huntcliff and the dramatic North Sea. In Saltburn-by-the-Sea, North Yorkshire, it's a welcoming retreat for families, couples, surfers, dog walkers and more, serving up local food including a popular fondue complete with Terry's chocolate orange, brownies, and chunky shortbread fingers.
Just moments from the beach, The Spa Hotel Saltburn has an intrinsic sense of wellness to it. Experience fitness in the form of a lesson at nearby surf schools or head out for an invigorating walk along The Cleveland Way. At the hotel itself, you can then seek to rest and restore, with treatments from Elemental Herbology, and specialist skincare line, Environ, whether you want non-surgical, anti-ageing skin rejuvenation or a holistic massage.
Field Trip at No.42 by GuestHouse Margate, Kent
A boutique guesthouse overlooking the beach, No.42 Margate is in the heart of the characterful old town quarter of Kent's famous coastal destination. Perfect for romantic getaways, the beachfront belle is a stylish Victorian property, taking in views across the bay. It's been immaculately decorated, fusing heritage style with modern luxuries, they have paid careful attention to the details. Guests enjoy the right to raid the hotel Pantry, but also delight in food and drink at The Pearly Cow. The Rooftop Bar is a particular favourite however, overlooking the sand.
Wellness is all about the treatments. This is not a place for working out, but for relaxing in their Field Trip Treatment Rooms. A little cocoon of feel-good-factor, settle into your robe and slippers and enjoy a host of therapies using eco-luxury products. Then tuck into Field Trip’s own healthy, organic and plentiful food.
St Moritz Hotel, Cornwall
The St Moritz Hotel is one of the most luxurious hotels in Cornwall, with a reputation for being a chic, coastal getaway. The iconic white property has Art Deco vibes and impressive views of the sea and surrounding gardens. It's achingly close to the beach as well as breathtaking cliff walks, not to mention sitting between Rock, Polzeath and Padstow aka Cornwall's ‘culinary triangle’.
Wellness has always been a factor here, but it's taken a serious step up thanks to a 2024 renovation and extension. The hotel is the proud host of the UK’s only Cowshed Spa outside Soho House properties, and Cowshed Active and Relax does not disappoint. Facilities include an outdoor hydro pool, swimming pool, sauna, steam rooms, ice fountains, multi-sensory showers, seating by the pool and immaculate lounge areas. Those ever-present views add to the relaxation factor, and in addition there are six treatment rooms for therapies using mood-enhancing Cowshed products based on botanical ingredients straight out of an English country garden.
The Harbour Beach Club, South Devon
Just outside the popular seaside sailing town of Salcombe, The Harbour Beach Club is a brand new hotel immediately by the beach. Step straight onto South Sands, and take a dip in the sea, or hop on the little ferry and head into town if you don't fancy the walk. The hotel itself is brand new and uncompromisingly modern. The restaurant and many of the rooms take advantage of the coastal views so you can watch the tide roll in.
The spa continues the coastal theme, with a beautiful 12-metre indoor pool, a hydrotherapy pool and an indoor relaxation room amongst its assets. The summer beckons you to grab a drink from the juice bar and enjoy time on the outdoor terrace, complete with sun loungers for the best waterside seat in town. Top off the experience with a Temple Spa treatment and you're in for a treat.
