The hotel was originally a house built in 1905. During World War II, it was taken over by the Admiralty and named HMS Blazer. After the war, the site became a private home and then a Yellands Chalet Hotel before it was bought by Warner in 1965 and subsequently opened as an adults-only hotel in 1979.
